Welcome to Mobile Midwifery's home birth website!

We provide home birth and full scope midwifery services to San Diego
county. Our services include prenatal visits, home birth and postpartum
care plus breastfeeding assistance, family planning counsel, and well woman
care.
Mobile Midwifery was created by Karly Nuttall, a Licensed Midwife
who began attending births in 1999. Karly has now attended over 330 births
(including experience in Senegal, West Africa, see link: www.babiesinsenegal.
blogspot.com), has assisted hundreds of women with breastfeeding and is
well versed in the use of herbs in pregnancy, labor and breastfeeding.  
Mobile Midwifery was created to give women a superior choice in maternity
care.

Home birth has many benefits and advantages including:

  • Home birth midwives are autonomous practitioners and therefore able
    to make evidence based care decisions instead of decisions based on
    protocols, personal interest or profit

  • Home birth midwives spend 45 minutes to an hour with you at each
    prenatal visit, getting to know you, your preferences, needs and what is
    normal for your body and your baby so as to better meet your
    individual needs

  • Problems are detected earlier because of the constant attendance of a  
    midwife

  • Reduces your chances of a C-section from 31.3% to 2-4%

  • Much greater chance of having a natural birth

  • Home birth is as safe as hospital birth but with the added benefit of
    less invasive procedures

  • Reduces the risk of postpartum infection.
